Toot Performance always has a few projects in the works:

A promotional shot for Tent In My Woods. A fake craft store canary sits on a small paper sculpture. Behind the bird is the canvas of a camping tent.

Tent In My Woods
(2023)

Tent In My Woods features one rehearsed performer – the interlocutor – and two unrehearsed performers, new for each performance. A camping tent has been turned on its side and adorned with fabric, trinkets, and appendages. Inside the tent are the unrehearsed performers, outside is the interlocutor and the surrounding audience. Part escape room, part improvised circus, and part otherworldly puppet show, Tent In My Woods asks what could happen when we don’t know the rules.

Two performers from "The Premise" are giving each other a high-five. They both wear colorful, retro clothing. Behind them is a rugged art studio with seating and a wooden floor.

“The Premise” Live
(2024)

A continuation of the ideas from Toot Performance’s film The Premise of Gripping the Wall When You’re Upset in a live theatrical context. Exploring the minds of actors acting together, work for this (currently untitled) project begins in 2022 with the staging of two pre-existing plays that will not be performed for an audience. The process itself is the object of study— how do characters develop in rehearsal and what does that even mean? How do actors mesh, if they ever do?

An image from "Ploys." A rubber halloween mask lays on the seat of a blue chair amongst rows of other chairs for an audience. The empty chairs each have a name tag on them with different, typical first and last names.

Aspic
(TBA)

A sequel to Toot Performance’s first two shows at the same time - Ploys for Ensemble Glitz and Crisis Actors, and Tweezer Burn. Revisiting discarded ideas, overlooked project notes, and cut material, Aspic rejects the finality and singularity of artistic projects. What was missed the first time? Why were certain decisions made? What can we learn from artistic detritus?

Toot is raising funds for these projects. Click here to learn more about donating.
